Application programming interface security company Cequence Security Inc. today unveiled Cequence AI Gateway, a new solution that allows enterprises to take full advantage of the productivity gains promised by agentic artificial intelligence.
AI Gateway has been designed to bridge the gap between AI agents and enterprise applications by ensuring real-time API connectivity with the guardrails enterprises need to stay in control.
The new offering seeks to address the growing pressure enterprises face to take advantage of AI. They’re rushing to implement solutions but lack the necessary experience and tools.
Cequence argues that for chief information security officers and security leaders, the rush to expose applications to agentic AI is now outpacing the guardrails required by the EU AI Act and Anthropic PBC’s AI System Levels framework. The latter is a framework that defines graduated levels of autonomy and oversight for AI systems to ensure safe and accountable deployment.
AI Gateway fills in the missing layers by instantly connecting AI agents to enterprise applications and APIs while enforcing real-time policies that prevent abuse, protect data and ensure AI acts within bounds.
“The enterprise race to adopt agentic AI is happening fast, but the infrastructure to support it hasn’t caught up,” said Chief Executive Ameya Talwalkar. “Most organizations connect AI agents to critical systems without security, oversight or context, leaving them exposed to abuse, data leakage and compliance risks. With AI Gateway, Cequence delivers both sides of the equation: open, seamless access for AI agents and the enterprise-grade security, governance and visibility that leaders need to trust this next wave of automation.”
The company says AI Gateway delivers immediate value by enabling instant connectivity between applications and AI agents. It converts any API into a Model Context Protocol-compatible endpoint without requiring code changes or application modifications, allowing real-time access with minimal effort.
It also works within existing information technology environments and tech stacks without disruption and includes built-in controls for fast deployment. With support for the MCP, the platform is future-ready, built to scale with the rapid evolution of agentic AI technologies and standards.
The new service will be available to Cequence customers in August.
